It provides general guidelines for administrators, instructors and students on safe working practices and accident prevention methods and lists the appropriate considerations to be given to the provision of personal protection of instructors and students against certain hazards and harmful agents. General requirements relating to environmental factors and to equipment and services are given, together with specific requirements for safety in particular areas, including laboratories, equipment in general use (e.g. portable tools), metalworking, woodworking, areas where there are harmful substances and processes, forging, welding, foundry work, automotive engineering, ancillary plant and equipment (e.g. cranes, slings), graphic arts, and catering.
